Measles outbreak: 42 presons confirmed dead in Adamawa

No fewer than 42 people have been confirmed dead as a result of an outbreak of measles in Mubi and Gombi local government areas of Adamawa State.

Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Chief Felix Tangwame, disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting that was held on Friday.

He said, “The outbreak was recorded in 8 wards in Mubi and 7 wards in Gombi local government areas of the state, with a death toll of 42 out of 131 and 177, respectively, of the affected persons.”.

He added that, as a result of this outbreak, all the LGAs, with the exception of Lamurde, in the state have been put on red alert.

Tangwammi said that upon receiving the report of the outbreak, the ministry has responded swiftly and has been able to manage the situation promptly, revealing that the government and partners are still working round-the-clock to control the situation.

He advised people to be wary of their environment and always take precautionary measures against the dreaded measles disease.”
