May 27: Ooni of Ife showers blessing on children in Ibadan

IN commemoration of the Children’s Day, the foremost Yoruba traditional ruler,  Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, (Ojaja II), has showered blessing on the children.

He showered blessings on the children at the children’s day celebration organised by Fresh FM and Adron homes in Ibadan, where celebrities like Saheed Balogun, Woli Agba, Dele, Woli Arole, among others came to celebrate with the children.

Speaking at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, Ooni of Ife, wished all kids across the nation happy Children’s Day, saying he is happy to be present in Ibadan today (Monday) for this year children’s day edition.

Ooni recalled the experience of when he used to attend the children’s day celebration at the venue as a child.

He said: “I remember when I usually visit this stadium for children’s day celebration when I was between the age of 10 and 15 years and I never knew I would come back today as a king.

“Among these children here today, I foresee kings, governors, president, doctors, lawyers, engineers, wives of governors.

“I pray that every parent present here today shall see all their children succeed.

“My coming here today is to celebrate and pray for the children to succeed in all their endeavours, the parents and guardians should keep nurturing the children.”

One of the fast-rising actors, Saheed Balogun, added that the children should keep working hard, as today’s celebration should be a lesson for their future success.

He, however, urged the parents to be watching over their children 24/7 and not to overwork them.

“My shout out goes to all the lovely kids, they should keep smiling to success,” he said

In his statement, the Chief Executive Officer of Adron Homes, Oba Adetola Emmanuelking, urged parents to secure the future of the children before it is too late.

“I became a landlord at age 5, it was a privilege to me,” he added
