Matron appeals for regularisation of ad hoc personnel at Delta community health centre

Published by

The matron of the Primary Healthcare Centre, Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs. Violet Aruegbe, has appealed to the state governor to take urgent measures that would absorb eight ad hoc health personnel into the state government’s employ as a result of the dearth of personnel at the centre.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the health centre currently has only three personnel employed by the state government, a number abysmally inadequate to provide proper health services to the people of the area.

She made the appeal in an interview with newsmen at the centre in Idumuje Ugboko.

Mrs. Aruegbe said that the community health extension workers have been on the same grade level for the past eight years, which, she remarked, was discouraging and thereby undermining the health services to the people.

The matron seized the opportunity to commend the Idumuje Ugboko community for providing solar light at the health centre, which said had reduced the cost of running the centre.

Aruegbe, however, lauded the member representing Delta North senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Ned Nwoko, for facilitating the building of an ultramodern health centre by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) for the community and for providing the necessary hospital equipment for its smooth takeoff.

She called on the state and local governments to provide electricity and potable water supply to the new complex to enable it to commence services at the office without further delay.
