A construction company, Arab Contractors, has continued with the ongoing massive rehabilitation of roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) despite the heavy rains.
The firm engaged by the FCT administration has already completed maintenance of many roads which include the road leading to the popular Utako motor park.
FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, recently paid an unscheduled visit to portions of roads being rehabilitated and re-surfaced around the National Assembly Complex and the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation where he directed the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to ensure that bad roads in other districts of the city were urgently fixed despite the rains.
The minister commended the FCDA and the contractor for the prompt rehabilitation of the access road which he said was usually in a sorry state whenever it rained.
Bello specifically commended the drainage system introduced on the road to redirect storm water into nearby stream to prevent flooding of the main access road.
He stated that the contractor would equally plant trees on the road shoulders so as to give the area a special feature and add beauty to the whole environment.
The minister assured that the administration would continue with such intervention so that all the roads would be maintained up to highest standards Abuja was known for.
Also speaking, a representative of Arab Contractors Nigeria, Mr Selsayed Elawady, said the firm was passionate in doing the job to elongate the lifespan of the road.
