Mass housing: FCT administration to commence issuance of fresh C-of-Os

Published by

THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has announced that it will soon commence the process of giving out Certificates of Occupancy to individual beneficiaries of houses within mass housing projects in the territory.

FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, disclosed this while receiving members of delegation from Shelter Afrique led by its Regional Business Manager/Resident Regional Representative, Mr Zachary Munene in his office.

The minister noted that landed properties in the territory must have title documents to add more value and make them bankable.

He stated that the certification of landed property in Abuja would fast-track development as it would enable investors and real estate financiers get dependable security for their investments.

The minister directed the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) as well as the Department of Land Administration to ensure that all those who had completed processes and paid the necessary fees on their property have their titles processed and handed over to them in line with approved guidelines.

Bello noted that the FCT Administration would continue to positively interface with real estate financiers to ensure that title documents meet their aspirations.

He called for closer collaboration between the FCT Administration and Shelter Afrique by always verifying the status of any landed property for the organisation before any kind of engagement with developers.

He emphasized that the FCT Administration considered Shelter Afrique as a credible Pan-African organisation that could contribute positively to the housing development landscape of the territory.
