Maryam Abacha American University approves Ganduje wife’s professorship

The Governing Council of Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN) has approved the promotion of Kano State governor’s wife, Dr Hafsat Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, to the rank of an Associate Professor of Administration and Planning.

Dr Hafsat Ganduje thanked the founder and president of the university for establishing it and for his commitment to the development of his community, and called on other individuals with the wherewithal to emulate him.

Meanwhile, the delegation from the university, led by Professor Muhammad Magaji-Rano, presented the promotion letter to Dr Ganduje at the Government House, Kano.

Other members of the delegation were Professor Ibrahim Maigari and Dr Bala Muhammad-Tukur, Director of Linkages and Collaboration of the university.

Speaking shortly after the presentation, director, Linkages and Collaboration,  Dr Muhammad Tukus said the decision to elevate Mrs Ganduje to such rank was based on her record of teaching, research service and comprehensive review of her scholarly work.

“I am happy to inform you that the governing council of Maryam Abacha American University has approved your promotion to the rank of associate professor – Administration and Planning with effect from August 14, 2019,” he said.

He stated that the decision of the Kano State government under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje to introduce free and compulsory basic and secondary education would go a long way in promoting the sector for the development of the state.

“The founder and president of the university, Professor Adamu Abubakar-Gwarzo has directed me to tell you that he has renamed one of female hostels at MAAUN’s College of Health Sciences and Technology in Kaduna as ‘Professor Hafsat Ganduje Hostel.’

Responding, Dr Hafsat thanked and commended Professor Abubakar-Gwarzo, founder of MAAUN for the honour and his decision to establish similar university in Kano and Kaduna and expressed hope that he would do same in Southern part of Nigeria and other neighbouring French-speaking countries.

Dr Hafsat Ganduje is a lecturer at the Department of Education, Bayero University, Kano State.
