Posters of former senate president, Senator David Mark for presidency in 2019 have flooded strategic areas of Makurdi, Benue state capital.

The posters were seen along new Otukpo road, pastes on the fence of PDP secretariat as well as youths displaying several of the posters with inscription which read, “Our choice for 2019, David Mark for presidency” at the party’s monthly caucus meeting held at the state party secretariat yesterday.

Though Mark was not in attendance but the youths chanted Mark’s praises and called on him to take a shot at the Marion’s presidency come 2019.

The caucus meeting was held amidst jubilation by the party supporters who sang victory song for the success of the party at the apex court last month.

Among those who attended the meeting were; former senate president, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, erstwhile minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, immediate past governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, first female speaker in Nigeria, Mrs Margaret Icheen as well as host of others were in attendance.

In his remark, immediate past Governor of Benue State Gabriel Suswam lampooned his successor Samuel Ortom of hoodwinking the people as a man of God while mortgaging the future of the State.

Suswam accused the government of failure to execute tangible projects and pay salaries of workers in two years despite the huge loan of over 55 billion naira taken from banks, bailout funds, Paris Club Refund and over 300 billion gotten from the Federation Allocation.

“This government is just mortgaging the future of the State. It is a clueless government that is just playing politics. There is total collapse of the rural economy. Institutions of the state have collapsed too. Contracts are awarded to incompetent contractors particularly to Tongyi owned by a government appointee. No single has been completed and commissioned. There is mediocrity in governance. A few persons are embezzling money in the name of ghost workers.”

Ayu in his remarks declared that the party had realized its problems which he said caused their failure in 2015 general election which he mentioned as impunity and lack of internal democracy.

He said as one of the founders of the party, PDP was formed to uphold the tenets of democracy which he said prompted the leaders of the party to kick against third term agenda of Obasanjo.

Moro described the All Progressives Congress, APC government as clueless, noting that it lacked ideas on how to govern the State.
