A marketing officer, Kudirat Bello, accused of stealing N1.7 million from her employer, on Friday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Bello, who resides in No. 13, Ediae Close, Jankara Market, Lagos, is charged with theft and breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chekwube Okeh alleged that Bello stole the money from Celebration Global Enterprises at Jankara Ijaye, Ojokoro, Lagos, between 2018 and March 2019.
She said that the defendant, a marketing Officer of the company, was given N1.7million to disburse to customers who wanted to collect loans.

The prosecutor told the court that the theft was discovered during an audit of the company’s account.
“The defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by converting the money to her own use.
She noted that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Akinde admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 2 for hearing.
