A man, James Daniel, has prayed for divorce at Area Court, Center-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State after 25 years of his marriage to Tosin Akinrinade, over alleged stubborn attitude and refusal to change for good.
The applicant told the court that he had a misunderstanding with his wife which made her to destroy some of his belongings and sold others without his consent.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Daniel, a father of two, pleaded with the court for the nullification of their relationship so that he could live a peaceful life.
The presiding Judge, Aminullahi AbdulLateef, said that court could not grant divorce to a relationship that had no official backing, saying that the applicant and respondent did not marry officially.
The judge however, said that the respondent should be served to respond to the claims.
The court adjourned the case to August 14, for respondent reaction.
