A 23-year-old man, identified only as Success, has been arrested for allegedly using a machete to kill his father in the Amukpe community, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident has left residents of Amukpe in shock and disbelief.
Eyewitnesses reported that the trouble began when Success demanded ₦5,000 from his father, but the request was denied.
They recounted that the altercation occurred at the family’s residence and escalated after a heated argument ensued.
A neighbor, who requested anonymity, described Success as a known drug addict with a history of erratic behavior.
“Everyone in this area knows Success as a drug addict who always misbehaves after taking drugs,” the neighbor said.
It was gathered that the argument turned violent, during which Success grabbed a machete and attacked his father, inflicting severe injuries.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating, “Success has already been taken into custody.”
