Man machetes farmer to death in Ekiti

A middle-aged man has been arrested by Ekiti state police command for gruesomely killing a farmer in Agbado -Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti state.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the suspect, who is believed to be deaf, attacked the deceased, identified as Sikiru, in his Ipole farm settlement after he was cut stealing maize and other items from the farm.
A source who spoke on condition said the deceased challenged the suspect for coming to his farm to steal farm produce, which angered him.
He said, ” The suspect, who is a deaf and dumb man, had gone to the farm of Sikiru to steal some maize, and when Sikiru came out to challenge him, the suspect attacked him with a machete, almost severing his head.
” The attacker immediately fled the scene, leaving the victim in the pool of his own blood before some other farmers saw him and reported the case to the police.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said the police had arrested the suspect.
