Man docked for allegedly stealing food items

A 21-year-old man, Teslim Azeez, was on Monday docked at an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly breaking into a shop and food stealing items worth N500,000.

Azeez, whose address was not provided in court, is facing a three-count charge of burglary, break-in and stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, told the court that Azeez committed the offences on or before last March at Robert Onadipe Street, Bariga. Lagos.

Uwadione said that the defendant broke into a shop, belonging to one Abimbola Fadiji and stole 50 bags of 10kg Semolina, 30 cartons of noodles, 10 cartons of spaghetti and 10 Jerry cans of 20 litres of groundnut oil, all valued at N500,000.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 285(5), 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, granted Azeez bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adedayo adjourned the case until October 7 for mention.
