The defendant, 39, of Kado in Abuja was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Adama Musa, told the court that the matter was reported by Comfort Danladi of Utako, Abuja, at the Wuse Police Station on Jan.7.
He said that sometime in December 2017, the defendant deceived the complainant and collected 10 bags of rice valued T N120,000.
He added that the defendant told the complainant that the payment would be done through bank money transfer.
Musa said that Osuji collected the complainants’ account number and after he had the goods in his possession he escaped to an unknown destination.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Magistrate, Mohammed Tahir, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with a reliable surety in like sum.
He added that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case till Feb. 20 for hearing. (NAN)
