Man docked over alleged theft of N250,000 motorcycle parts

A 31-year-old man, Olajide Oladapo, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing motorcycle parts valued at N250,000.

Oladapo, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi told the court that the defendant and others still at large committed the offences on Dec. 8, 2017, at about 8.30p.m at Ewepe Road, Ota.

Gbesi said the defendant and his accomplices stole motorcycle catalyst (parts) belonging to the complainant, Soneye Adekunle.

“The defendant was caught in the process of committing the offences by neighbours and handed over to the police,” he said.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 390(8b) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.
