Man bathes wife with acid, kills self for not getting next of kin appointment

A middle age man, one Mr Daniel Okafor of Nsugbe, Anambra state, has killed himself for not getting next of kin appointment from his wife house property.

The PPRO, Anambra state police command, SP Mohammed Haruna, who disclosed this in a press release said at about 03:am, on Wednesday, there was a report at 3-3 Police Station Onitsha that one Daniel Okafor  ‘m’ of  Nsugbe allegedly poured some chemical substance suspected to be acid on his wife, one Mrs Paulina Okafor ‘f’ of same address for refusing to make him next of kin.

Haruna said following the report, Police detectives attached to 3-3 Division visited the scene and rushed the victim to Immaculate Heart Hospital Onitsha for treatment.

Consequently, the suspect who looked very sick and was equally rushed to Multi Care Hospital for medical attention. The doctor confirmed that the suspect seems to have drank some quantities of the chemical he allegedly poured on his wife. He was later certified dead by a medical Doctor while receiving treatment and his corpse deposited at  Apex mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the wife is responding to treatment and the case is under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.

A source who didn’t want to be mentioned in the print told our correspondent that the woman in question nominated her son as a next of kin in a document of a house she built instead of her dead husband.
