Man, 34, docked for alleged reckless driving in Ogun

A 34-year-old driver, Ayoade Adedayo, was on Friday arraigned before an Ota Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for alleged reckless driving.

The accused, who resides at No. 46 Badele Street, Iyana-Ilogbo, Ota, is facing a charge of reckless driving.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 24 at about 6.30 p.m at Plaza Junction, Ijoko, Ota.

Gbesi said that the defendant, who was driving an LT Bus with registration No FKJ 265 XE, drove the vehicle in dangerous manner and caused injury to one Olaniyi Oliyide.

He said that the offence contravened Section 6(1) of the Highway Act Cap 136, Revised Laws of the Federation, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, granted N300,000 bail to the defendant with two sureties in like sum.

Banwo said that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.

He also ordered that the sureties should swear to an affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

In addition, the magistrate said that the sureties should possess reasonable means of identification and their addresses should be verified by the police.

The case was adjourned to July 13 for hearing.
