Man, 32, in court for allegedly stealing employer’s money

THE police on Monday arraigned a barman, Ahmed Abubakar, for allegedly stealing N170, 299, belonging to his employer.

Abubakar, 32, of Bakare Street at Alapere in Ketu, near Lagos, was arraigned for stealing but he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi told the court that Abubakar committed the offence on May 28 and May 29 at Mascara community in Alapere.

The prosecutor said that the defendant stole N170, 299 from the sales made from selling drinks on May 28 and May 29 at Jolly Garden Hotel at Mascara.

He said that the defendant refused to remit the money after sales and when confronted by the manager of the hotel, he admitted to using it for his personal use.

Perezi said that the offence contravened Sections 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs Bukola Mogaji, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties each in like sum whose addresses must be verified by the court.

Mogaji adjourned the case until June 29 for mention.
