A 25-year-old man, Ismaila Sule, was on Friday docked at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle valued at N450,000.

The accused driver of Abanikonda Haruna Street in Ogba, a suburb of Lagos, is facing trial for alleged stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 17 at Ajani Road, Ogba.

Ogu said that the accused collected a tricycle from one Mr Tosin Oke on hire purchase but disappeared with it without making any payment.

“Since the accused disappeared, all efforts to see him failed until he was sighted and apprehended,” he said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The chief magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case to July 11 for mention.
