THE All Progressives Congress (APC) Oyo State Chapter has described the absence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Yoruba organised debate for the State gubernatorial candidates last Friday as a manifestation of the candidate’s sheer incompetence, incapability and lack of programmes to move the state forward.
The party said that Makinde’s absence was to shield his deficiency and lack of programmes for Oyo state forward stressing that the debate was an opportunity to market his candidature and manifesto to the people as against his consistent attack of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Dr AbulAzeez Olatunde in Ibadan on Monday said that another reason Makinde stayed away from the BBC debate was his penchant for character assassination and preaching falsehood against the Ajimobi led administration in the state which would have been easily punctured during the debate.
Dr Olatunde urged the people to pay close attention to Makinde’s words as spreading falsehood and fabrications are in his campaign DNA, noting that the BBC debate was a veritable platform to market his programmes.
He noted that everyone should know that Makinde’s PDP is synonymous with selling our collective patrimony, stating that the presidential candidate of PDP has told the whole world about his plans to sell the country’s holdings like the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
“The status of BBC as a reputable media organization is known to the whole world. So, it was a lifetime opportunity for anyone who is invited for a debate to appear and sell his programmes, as well as manifesto. But we can understand Makinde’s absence as his poor command of the Yoruba language, political naivety and lack of basic knowledge in public governance would have been easily exposed,” Dr Olatunde added.
