Makinde
OYO State governor, Seyi Makinde, will on Tuesday lay the foundation stone for a multimillion naira ‘mini Mapo hall’ to be built by Ibadan South West Traditional Council.
A statement from the souncil’s building project chairman and Aare Alasa Balogun, Chief Taiwo Oyekan, said the traditional council building would comprise a hall, conference room, chairman’s office, lavatory facilities and others.
The project, the statement said, is the brainchild of the acting chairman of the council, Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja.
According to Oyekan, the project was informed by the need to erect a befitting edifice where the meetings and other business of the traditional council will be carried out.
The council currently holds its meetings at the old Town Planning Office at Ring Road, which is owned by Ibadan Local Government Property Limited.
Oyekan explained that the project was nicknamed a ‘mini Mapo Hall’ to further develop Ibadan and make it comfortable for the traditional council members to carry out their duties.
Ibadan South West Traditional Council is led by Ladoja as acting chairman and representative of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
