Makinde: PDP hails tribunal judgement

The South-West zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, hailed the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s judgement over the dismissal of the petition filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the last governorship, Mr. Bayo Adelabu.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Zonal Publicity Secretary of the party, Ayo Fadaka, described the judgement as victory for democracy.

Fadaka said in the statement “the South-West Zonal Executive under the leadership of Dr Eddy Olafeso and indeed the PDP family across the South West congratulates the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde on his victory at the Oyo State Election Petitions Panel.

“We note that all the grounds upon which the petition of the APC is anchored was carefully examined by Tribunal and found to be flimsy and outlandish, this confirms that they were merely shopping where they shouldn’t!

“In view of foregoing, we request of the APC and its candidate to accept this verdict and not pursue it further in the interest of the State, as this action continues to constitute a mere distraction.

“We, however, wish to reassure the people of Oyo State that Gov Seyi Makinde is further re-energised to continue discharge his responsibilities and extend the frontiers of development in the state”
