Make Qur’an your guide, source of healing —MUTAN Deputy Missioner

Published by

MUSLIMS have been advised to see the Qur’an as the most effective guide in all their undertakings and exploit the potency of the holy book as a source of healing for their afflictions – spiritually and otherwise.

The Deputy Missioner of MUTAN, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Lawal, gave the advice in Lagos in a lecture he delivered at the maiden Qur’an recitation competition of the Muslim Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (MUTAN) in Lagos.

Alhaji Lawal, who described the Qur’an as full of guidance and healing, however, contrasted the attitude of present-day Muslims with that of early Muslims who, he said, placed a high premium on the holy book.

In his own address, the MUTAN chairman, Alhaji Abdul Raheem Jimoh, challenged Muslim parents to see acquisition of the knowledge of the Qur’an as an essential part of their children’s education.

He charged the contestants, drawn from the six educational districts in Lagos State, to seek to become well-rounded by also prioritising the acquisition of the knowledge of the Qur’an.

The competition was won by Atolagbe Sekinah of Newland Junior Secondary School, Ajeromi Ifelodun, ahead of Idris Wahab of State Senior High School, Alimoso and Abdulazeez Imran of Oke Ira Senior Grammar School, Ikeja, who came second and third respectively.

Commending the competitors and their handlers, the Missioner of MUTAN, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladoyin, challenged them to start immediate preparation for next year as the standard of the competition would be higher.
