Maiduguri flood: Nigerian baptist convention seeks support for victims

Published by

The Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) has made an urgent appeal to its members across the country following severe flooding in Maiduguri, Borno State, which has affected scores of its members.

The natural disaster, which has devastated much of the city, has left hundreds homeless, including members of several Baptist churches.

Reports confirmed that church buildings, properties, and schools in the area have been badly damaged, leaving the victims in anguish.

In a statement signed by the Convention President, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, a total of 149 people from six Baptist congregations have been directly affected.

According to him, the immediate need for those affected is financial assistance to enable them to purchase food items and meet other necessary basic needs.

The Nigerian Baptist Convention is therefore calling on all members across the country to make special offerings in their churches on Sunday, September 15, 2024, to support those in distress.

The Convention urged everyone to “act swiftly and generously in this time of need.”
