Low turnout greets guber, State Assembly poll in Nasarawa

Governorship and State Assembly election ongoing in Nasarawa state is being characterized by a low turnout of voters to polling units across the state.
Visiting some units in Lafia the state capital, few people were seen around the voting centre patiently waiting to exercise their franchise.
However,  in some polling units, election have begun as early as 8:30 am, while some were yet to commence some minutes to 10:00 am
Speaking with a voter at Police barrack poling unit ward 026, who preferred to be unanimous, said that the low turnout was as a result of destructions of ballot papers and disruption of election processes by some hoodlums in the last election.
According to him, they belong to a certain political party, who were threatened because they were losing the poll.
“I am only doing my civic responsibility by casting my vote to a candidate of my choice, I don’t know my vote will even count this time”.
At polling units 032 ( Angwan Mangu) election commenced in earnest by 8:30 and it was peaceful as voters were also seen discharging their civil rights without any hutches.
In an interview with Joseph Johnson who just finished casting his vote, expressed satisfaction with the processes, affirming that people refused to come out compared to the last election.
” To say the truth, people failed to come out like the Presidential and National Assembly election, where before the election commenced everywhere was field up with electorates. But I believe they may come out later to vote,” he said.
Meanwhile, the situation in the town is camp as supporters of all the candidates are eagerly waiting to see the outcome of the poll.
