THE Chairman of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has charged the federal government of Nigeria to beam its searchlight on the nation’s business environment for investors rather than going out to foreign lands for same purpose.
Dangote, who was represented at the Dangote Special Day at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair, in Lagos, by the Group’s Executive Director, Stakeholders’ Management and Corporate Communication, Engineer Ahmed Mansur, argued that rather than go to China and other foreign countries, the focus of the federal government should be how to incentivise investors in the country.
He noted the pre-election threat of the newly elected president of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump and other challenges currently facing the nation’s economy should be seen as a wake-up call by all Nigerians to develop the country.
“I don’t think we have that moral right to go and be enjoying in a foreign economy that has already been built, while our own is in tatters.
“That is why I believe Nigerians should see Trump’s threat as a wake-up call for us to really sit down and fix our economy,” he stated.
He argued further that the responsibility to fix the nation’s economy should be not be left to the government, but be seen by every Nigerian as the responsibility of all.
