Long queue resurfaces at filling stations in Ibadan

Barely three weeks after initially experiencing fuel scarcity, long queue has resurfaced again at most filling stations in Ibadan and adjoining towns.

Even at between N165 and N200 per litre, as applicable, motorists were sighted on Thursday at some filling stations visited by our correspondent.

Some of the areas visited include; Agodi-gate, Idi Ape, Iyana Church, Orita Challenge, Ojoo, Agbowo and other areas in the city

Tribune Online gathered that the long queue noticed at some filling stations is a product of anticipated scarcity by the motorists and other end users of the PMS.

Major marketers within the city are selling at the official rate of N165 per litre but plans are underway to jerk up the pump price

The planned increase is attributed to geometric increase in the landing cost of the petrol

In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, some marketers who preferred condition of anonymity said with a recent landing cost, it would be difficult for them to sell at the official rate

They submitted that business is all about making profits not incurring losses.

Also, Tribune Online observed that some filling stations in the city are under lock and key, as operators could not afford to purchase PMS.

In an interview, a commercial motorcyclist, otherwise known as Keke NAPEP Saheed Adewale decried the present scarcity of the product in the town.

In his words, “we thought it was all over, after a temporary relief, the situation is back.”
