As the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV marks one year in office, the Maiyaki of Lokoja, Alhaji Aliu Lawal, has said that Lokoja is more united than before during his reign.
Addressing newsmen on Sunday on the activities marking the first anniversary of the IVth Maigari of Lokoja and the Local Government Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Maikarfi noted that since the Maigari came to the throne, the people have witnessed tremendous achievements.
Lawal, who is a retired Permanent Secretary in Kogi State, explained that the celebration of the monarch had become essential due to the wonderful dynamism the paramount ruler has brought to the leadership of the ancient city.
According to him, his era in the period under review has fast-tracked peace, unity, progress, and development, saying that the town has observed harmonious relationships between various religious faiths and diverse ethnic groups that reside in the state capital.
Lawal further announced that the traditional ruler will visit some primary healthcare centres, the Federal Teaching Hospital, Kogi State Specialist Hospital, and an orphanage to present support to those in need.
He equally revealed that a news conference would be held on Wednesday this week to clarify some nagging issues bordering on the peace and unity of the ancient city, regretting that the recent controversy of the unapproved Etsu Nupe, which has caused tension, will be addressed.
Lawal also explained that there will be a special Juma’at prayer on Friday and a Christian church service on Sunday for the Maigari of Lokoja and the ancient city for God’s continued blessings and protection.
