Live life that is acceptable to God, cleric tells Nigerians as Obiyan is buried in Edo

THE General Overseer of the Four Winds of God Ministry International Inc., Ekpoma, Edo State, Apostle Vincent Oseghale, has described death as inevitable, saying what is important is to live a life that is acceptable to God.

Apostle Oseghale made this remark at the final funeral ceremony of Mrs Jane Irianele Obiyan, held on Friday, 3 May, 2024.

He described Mrs Obiyan as a dedicated Christian who led an exemplary life in service to God and humanity.

The cleric advised the congregants to emulate the virtues of the deceased whom he said was a kind-hearted and well-respected community builder and leader.

He reminded them that death is inevitable and that what is important is to lead a life that is acceptable to God.

Relying on the scriptures, the cleric said at death, the body returns to dust while the spirit goes back to God.

He, therefore, implored the people to live an acceptable life while on earth so that their souls could find peace with God.

He said he was glad that the soul of the departed was resting in the bosom of the Lord.

One of the children of the deceased, Professor Sat Obiyan of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, described her mother as “the best and perfect mother” and “a lover of God, goodness and righteousness.”

Professor Obiyan stated that her mother’s commitment to the service of God and humanity would continue to be a source of inspiration, joy and pride to her children and entire family.

The funeral service was attended by dignitaries that included professors and other lecturers from OAU, Lagos State University, University of Benin, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Kings University, among others.

Mrs Jane Irianele Obiyan was born in 1929 to the prominent Itua Family of Oghagbo, Opoji in what is today called Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.

She died on Sunday, 25 February, 2024, in Benin City, Edo State.

Her remains were interred at Oghagbo, Opoji, Edo State, on Friday, 3 May, 2024.
