The city of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, witnessed a spiritual awakening as thousands gathered at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, popularly known as Liberty Stadium, on Friday, for the much-anticipated Light Up Ibadan crusade.Â
The crusade, which is an extension of the Reach for Christ initiative by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), aims at spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ across villages, towns, cities, and nations.
The two-day event kicked off on Friday, March 14, 2025, with an overwhelming crowd filling the stadium to capacity as early as 5:00 p.m. The turnout was so massive that latecomers struggled to find seats, showcasing the hunger and thirst for the gospel in Ibadan.
The opening charge of the crusade was delivered by Pastor Sola Owoeye, the National Youth Pastor of the RCCG. He centered his message on the theme Arise and Shine, emphasizing that before anyone can shine, they must first rise. His message encouraged the congregation to take bold steps in their faith and embrace the light of Jesus Christ in their lives.
The atmosphere was charged with spiritual fervor as believers engaged in fervent prayers, calling on God to intervene in their lives and in the affairs of Christians across the world. The night was filled with miracle-provoking prayers and deep intercessions, setting the tone for a life-transforming experience.
One of the most remarkable moments of the night came when Pastor Odekunle, a Regional Youth Evangelist of RCCG, mounted the pulpit to deliver the message of salvation. With passion and conviction, he preached the gospel, urging the audience to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. As he made the altar call, an overwhelming response followed—over one thousand people trooped out to give their lives to Christ. The scene was deeply emotional as men and women, young and old, knelt in surrender, making a fresh commitment to their faith.
The final ministration of the night was delivered by Pastor Odekunle Epaphra, who gave a moving tribute to Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the revered General Overseer of RCCG. During his message, Pastor Epaphra shared a personal testimony that left the audience deeply touched.
He recounted how he had only ever seen Pastor Adeboye in his dreams and never imagined that he would one day share the pulpit with him. “I only saw Pastor Adeboye in my dream; I never knew I would share a pulpit with him in my life,” he said. He further revealed that when Pastor Femi Emmanuel confirmed that he would be ministering at Light Up Ibadan, he was overwhelmed with emotions and burst into tears.
His story resonated with many in the audience. His heartfelt words further heightened the anticipation for the grand finale of the crusade.
The Light Up Ibadan crusade is set to continue on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 12pm. The climax of the event will feature Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye himself, who will be leading a team of renowned ministers to round off the crusade.
Pastor Adeboye, fondly referred to as Daddy G.O., is expected to deliver a powerful message and lead the congregation in prophetic prayers and blessings. His presence at Light Up Ibadan has generated great excitement among the attendees, with many looking forward to experiencing his anointed ministrations firsthand.
Over the years, the Light Up crusades have transformed numerous cities, and Ibadan is proving to be no exception. The revival spirit sweeping through the city is a testament to the power of God working through RCCG’s evangelistic efforts. Many attendees have testified to experiencing healings, breakthroughs, and divine encounters since the program began.
As the grand finale approaches, expectations are high. With Pastor Adeboye set to take center stage, thousands more are expected to flood Liberty Stadium, making it a night of unprecedented spiritual impact.
