Leverage on tourism sector, NNPP chieftain urges Osun state government

A Chieftain of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP), Honourable Damilare Abioro, has asked the Osun State government to leverage on the tourism sector in the state.

The State, according to the politician, is endowed with many tourist attractions.

Abioro, who made the call while addressing newsmen on the sideline of the final burial ceremony of late PA Ayodele Akinola Fasoro and Late Iyaafin Elizabeth Arike Fasoro Ayoade at Ilesa Osun State, said the State remains the tourism and cultural hub in Nigeria.

The politician explained that aside the Osun Osogbo Festival, there are other cultural heritage in the State which had not been tapped.

He added that the State has rich history with Adire fabrics which has been totally neglected by the past administration.

According to him, if the tourism and cultural opportunity in the State are well utilised, they have the potential to boost the internally generated revenue of the State.

“We can’t continue to lament on the economic situation in the country when several sectors, especially the tourism sector had not been tapped.

“The situation in the country requires that those at the helms of affairs think out of the box to improve the financial status of their State.

“This sector is capable of producing thousands of jobs for our teeming unemployed youths and as well improve the economy at large,” the NNPP Chieftain explained.

Abioro asked government at all levels to partner with prospective investors to develop the tourism sector in their areas
