NIGERIAN football lovers, particularly those who follow the English Premier League know that Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is a fan of Arsenal. On several occasions, he had said he would buy Arsenal and take the club private, just as Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea several years ago.
Football is a passion, and everybody has the right to support the team they love; in fact, apart from the English Premiership that has huge followership in Nigeria, some fans also follow the Spanish, Italian and German leagues.
However, in the case of Alhaji Dangote, I think instead of buying Arsenal, he should just establish a football club in the country, and this will help in the development of our football. That is why I want to commend Dr Ifeanyi Ubah for his support for football, and I hope Dangote will also follow suit.
