On Monday, Nigerian pilgrims in Israel reportedly organised a prayer session for President Muhammadu Buhari’s quick recovery from ill health. They also prayed for acting President Yemi Osinbajo to receive wisdom and courage to pilot the affairs of the state in the absence of the president.
The pilgrims, who were reportedly drawn from Rivers, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Enugu as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, converged on Mount Zion, Jerusalem, in a prayer convocation for Nigeria, with the theme, ‘Building A Covenant Nation.”
According to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Reverend Tor Uja, who adrressed the pilgrims, having a honest man like Buhari to lead the country was an opportunity that Nigerians should not miss.
Such a demonstration of love for the president is commendable, and I urge Nigerians of all religious faiths to keep praying for the president’s quick recovery. As a people, we have unwavering faith in God and in His ability to assist all those who call on Him.
There is no doubt that such prayers are needed for the good health of the nation. President Buhari will no doubt appreciate the sincere prayers of fellow compatriots. In no distant time, we expect him to return home fully recovered and completely energized for the huge tasks ahead. However, Nigerians as a whole would need to embrace positive values. This is because prayer without positive values will amount to nothing. It is also necessary for government at all levels to upgrade the existing health facilities in the nation so that our leaders can be attended to here in Nigeria..
