Gov. Dapo Abiodun
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has charged Nigerians to continue to pray and work for peace and unity of the country.
Abiodun in his Eid-el-Fitri message made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, on Tuesday, said that Muslim ummah should uphold the lessons learnt during the Holy month of Ramadan which include self-denials and personal sacrifices.
The governor described peace as an essential ingredient for national growth, hence the need for all to jettison anything that could further polarise the country and embrace oneness and good neighbourliness.

“The sacrifices you have all made during the holy month of Ramadan should draw everyone closer to the Almighty God. I enjoin all our Muslim brothers and sisters to draw enduring lessons from the holy month of Ramadan, which includes personal sacrifices and self-denial.
” I also seize this medium to call on you all to emulate the good virtues and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
“I would also like to appeal to our members of the Islamic faith to see beyond all artificial divisions including minor ethnic and religious differences in society and abide strictly with the teachings of the holy Koran as propagated by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
“Peace is very essential to the development of any nation. We should all, therefore, continue to pray and work for the peace and unity of the nation.
” Let us display the spirit of oneness and stay strong together regardless of the diverse difficulties and challenges so that we can achieve our goals. We should focus on the things that bind us together, and jettison the ones that are capable of dividing us,” he said.
