Lessons from M.K.O Abiola

Published by

I really appreciate God for granting me the opportunity to witness the recognition of June 12, 1993 distracted victory despite unrecoverable disadvantages of lost valuable lives and properties. I was fortunate to have an interaction with the late MKO Abiola through our political leader, late Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu.

This humble, listening, generous, loving patriot had great visions which I learnt through direct revelations at meetings in preparation for the then general election. The most prominent and useful of his vision was on economic disadvantages of Africa. He narrated plans for wealth creation programme meant to relieve Nigerians from inherited economic disadvantage. Let us adopt unconditional love for this country and humanity as whatever we have is temporary. Let us encourage reputation in good faith towards good memory of our short existence.

Chief MKO Abiola had deep respect for humanity. He often pleaded for peaceful co-existence and reconciliation. He was never an avenger despite strong oppositions. He made sure that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was intact and many people in the National Republic Convention (NRC) also cherished him and did vote for him in the general elections.

The fear of God will certainly bring sanity into our polluted society as often expressed by Chief MKO Abiola at meetings then.

Regional sentiments, godfatherism, sycophancy and operated self-esteem are vices. Events have proved that no human being is indispensable.
