Without mincing words, the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, is one of the most active and vibrant party leaders who understand Nigerian politics and he has contributed immensely to the growth of the said PDP in Nigeria.
Prince Secondus has been coordinating the activities of his party, reconciling aggrieved members and carrying members along while also giving them opportunity to speak their minds. I appreciate the fact that he is a chairman who believes in good governance and all the PDP state governors are doing well.
But on what is going on in Edo state, there is a need to constitute a committee without any delay that will verify the certificates and information of those who are contesting for any position under the platform of the PDP before submitting same to the INEC. What happened in Bayelsa state should be a lesson, whose fault is this? Is it the Supreme Court or APC? It is clear that the huge blame goes to APC for not verifying the information of its members before submitting it to INEC. Section 182 (1)(j) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended states that a governor can be removed from office by a court of law if there is overwhelming evidence before the court that such governor has presented forged certificate to the INEC.
What happenned to David Lyon of APC can also happen to PDP in future if proper care to check it is not taken now.
