Lent, Ramadan: Pray for peace, Niger CAN Chairman tells Nigerians

Muslim and Christians and Muslim faithful in Niger State have been admonished to continue to pray for peace and survival of the country.

The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Niger state chapter, Most Rev’d Dr Bulus Yohanna made the call in a brief interview with the newsmen shortly after Sunday service in Kontagora.

The cleric who doubles as the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese said followers of the two major religions should use the month of Lent and Ramadan to pray for an end to the lingering security challenges confronting the nation.

Bishop Bulus Yohanna also advised the adherents of the two religions to always pray for the Nation’s political leaders with particular reference to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago for God to see them through in conjunction with other political leaders across the country and overcome every challenges before them.

He urged the faithful to always have the fear of God in their dealings because according to him, everyone will account for his/ her deeds in the hereafter.

The clergyman however, advised them to also pray for an end to the present economic recession and hardships hitherto faced by the citizens nationwide and charged them to pray for governments at all levels to enable them to overcome the numerous challenges bedevilling every part of the country and the nation as a whole.

Niger State CAN Chairman reminded the Christian faithful to imbibe the spirit and lessons learnt even after the lent period by assisting the needy and less privileged members of the society as exemplified by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yohanna, therefore, wished the Christian and Muslim faithful a successful Lent and Ramadan fast and prayed to God to answers to prayers.
