Legal luminary, Fage, backs Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal

Published by

Barrister Abdul Adamu Fage, a legal luminary, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidies, stating that no state can criticize the move as it has increased its federal allocation.

Fage acknowledged the hardship and frustration caused by the removal but pointed out that the increased revenue has benefited the 36 states, which have not complained about receiving their share.

He questioned whether the governors have utilized the funds judiciously to address the needs of their populace.

Fage also mentioned that President Tinubu disclosed the release of N570 billion to the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, and called on protest organizers to engage in dialogue with the President to address their concerns.

National President of Ex-Councillors, Honourable Ambassador Awal Kazeem Hassan, also supported Fage’s views, stating that President Tinubu cannot solve the country’s problems overnight and needs more time.

Hassan called on protesters to suspend the ongoing protests, which have been hijacked by miscreants, and engage in positive dialogue with the President.

However, many people interviewed expressed disappointment with President Tinubu’s decisions, expecting him to reopen national borders or reverse the fuel subsidy removal.
