Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has said that the dream of his administration to build a world-class training institute “that is globally competitive” has become a reality.
The governor said the state government’s Public Service Training Institute, Ilara-Mokin, in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, was ready for inauguration.
He said this while on inspection tour of the institute in readiness for its inauguration, saying the “institute is for the public service of today and for the future,” and that the institute will provide modern training for the state workforce.
“This is a training institute for the public service, the public service of today, the public service of tomorrow. In the last seven and a half years, we have placed emphasis on training. This is an attempt to institutionalise public service.”
“This is a world-class training centre and as you have seen, the structure is ready and the gadgets are also ready. Our dream is to have a public service training institute that is globally competitive and the dream is now fulfilled.”
The institute is one of the 100 other projects the governor will be inaugurating before he leaves office in February next year.
Briefing newsmen on the projects lined up for inauguration, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, said projects due for inauguration under the operation tagged ‘Legacy Projects Commissioning,’ included the International Event Centre in Akure also known as The Dome.
“The event centre has three oval domes with full architecture, with the hall in each of the dome having a capacity to host 5,000 guests and three events at once.
The Dome also has a complementing event hall and has the capacity to sit 3,000 with syndicate room stores.
Akinmade said the exercise will witness the commissioning of about newly built 35 Mega schools across the state,even as he mentioned that an ultra modern 18 holes golf course designed to advance tourism in the state will also be commissioned.
The Akure Democracy park with parking space to complement it is also on the commissioning schedule, ditto for the Owo township, Arakale, Oba-ile Airport dualised roads, all with the accompanying furniture while the Civil Service training institute in Ilaramokin is also mentioned for commissioning.
Other projects set to be commissioned, include the Ondo Township Stadium, Chicken Processing center, Sericulture unit of the state’s Wealth Creation Agency, WECA, the Trauma, Surgical and Kidney care centres Ondo, Comprehensive health centre, Igoba, Community health post, Adejubu, Doctor’s quarters in Ondo and Ilaramokin, Basic health centre, Isarun, Health facilitiues in Bajare,basic health centres in Akomowa, Ojumu, Adaja, Ipinlerere as well as Emergency medical services base in Ilaramokin and Bolorunduro among others.
Mentioned also is the Ado road, Akure located Semi Mechanised Abattoir.
Akinmade posited that Semi Mechanised Abattoir will address the hygiene issue associated with the regular slaughter slabs in the state.
