Lecturer burnt to death in Ondo

AN early morning inferno in Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo state, killed one of the lecturers of the State-owned University of Science and Technology, Prof. Adegboyega Obadofin.

The lecturer who until his death was the Acting Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the university, was said to die in the fire outbreak which occurred in his house.

The cause of the fire outbreak in the building located around Ayeka area of the town, could not be ascertained but a source within the school said, the inferno was noticed around 2 am

The source explained that there was no supply of electricity on the area while he said the generating set of the man was not functioning.

He, however, said the fire incident was noticed around 2 am and all effort to put the fire off were not successful.

The source said: ” We are yet to know what caused the fire because we were told that there was no public power supply to the town and his generating set was not working when the incident happened.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, Mr Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident said the command had begun an investigation on the incident.

“We are yet to know how it happened and the cause of the incident but we have started an investigation on the matter.

The death of the lecturer, however, affected the academic activities in the school.
