Leadership: ‘Be change agents to solve Nigeria’s problems’, Nigerian youths charged

PROFESSIONALS and motivational speakers have charged Nigerian youths to develop themselves as change agents that will proffer solutions to arrays of problems confronting the country.

The advice was given by some motivational speakers and professionals in various fields on Tuesday during a summit tagged “Our Future is now” organised by a SSS 2 student of the International School University of Ibadan, Fatiha Olomide, at NUJ Iyaganku, Press Centre, Ibadan.

The summit aimed at mentoring students from SSS one to three student in leadership, career guidance, and personal growth.

Leading the pack is a toxicologist, Mrs Oluwakemi Ademola-Aremu, Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan branch, Dr Oluwole Akintayo, and the Chief Medical Director, Adeoyo Teaching Maternity hospital, Ibadan.

Dr Adigun called on the younger generation to be prepared to take leadership of the country in all sectors; political, economic and professionally.

He said “we are looking for prepared future leaders who will steer the leadership of this country beyond the current performance. You must be ready to lead as good leaders, grow and lead learn to make a difference in leadership positions in the country.

“You must start learning about what makes our leaders fall and intimate ways to correct them and put Nigeria on the right path of development in your generation. You must be bold to change the face of leadership in this country, and if you can solve the problems of this world, then, you can be world leaders.”

Mrs Aremu in her presentation advised the participants to build and sharpen their skills to build their future now.

She said “that your future starts from now and you must be ready to initiate skills that will give you a picture that solves African problems. Don’t be a weed, grow and bear fruit, your fruit will attract consumption because people seek fruits.”

In his presentation, Akintayo charged parents to assist in preparing their children to allow the children to become what they want to be in society.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Faithia Olomide said her vision is to create a platform for youths right from their school and eventually achieve that leadership status now.
