In its quest to expand the frontiers of knowledge and ensure that students turned out by the university excel in the labour market, the Lead City University, Ibadan, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
According to the vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Aderemi Adeyemo, the collaboration is crucial in making the students of the university to become more marketable, employers of labour and above all self-reliant, not solely dependent on government jobs after graduation.

Professor Adeyemo explained that under the deal, Lead City University would commence joint postgraduate studies with CITN in some programmes, which include MBA, ACTI, M.Sc Accounting, ACTI, M.Sc Finance, ACTI, M.Sc Economics in Taxation, ACTI, LLM, M.Sc Legal Studies and M.Sc Tax Laws.
He added that under the joint agreement, members of the institute with requisite professional qualification would also have the opportunity to run conversion programmes in the university.
Adeyemo noted also that graduates of these programmes would be admitted as Associate Chartered Institute of Nigeria (ACTI) and current students in all the stipulated programmes would automatically transfer to the scheme.
Present at the signing from LCU were the vice-chancellor, Professor Aderemi Adeyemo, Dr Ade Adewole, representative of the registrar, Dr Oyebola Ayeni, dean, Faculty of Law, Dr Olu Ojedokun, while the CITN team was led in signing by its president and chairman of council Dr C.I N Ede, vice president, Ms G.O Simplice, registrar, Mr Adefisayo Awogbade and chairman education committee Dr Oyedokun.
In another development, the dean, faculty of Basic Medical and Applied Sciences, LCU, Professor Olusola Abiola \Ladokun has taken a giant step in facilitating another MoU between the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health and the university.
The MoU was signed on Thursday, 24 January 2019.
According to the Director General\CEO of NIMR, Professor Babatunde Lawal Salako, who led the team NIMR, the MoU among other benefits would encourage cross-pollination of ideas and programme exchange.
The endorsement was done by the vice chancellor and registrar, LCU Professor Aderemi Adeyemo and Dr Oyebola Ayeni, just as other principal officers of NIMR signed for the institute.
