Sokoto State House of Assembly
A serving Member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, representing Kebbe Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Isa Harisu Kebbe, has called on the three tiers of government and the various security agencies in the state to urgently take plausible measures to redress the intractable challenges facing his constituency.
Isa Harisu Kebbe, who sadly revealed that many people were killed by some yet-to-be identified criminals believed to be kidnappers when they attacked them while on their way to the Ungushi in Sabon Birni market .
The lawmaker stated this while addressing newsmen in Sokoto, on Tuesday. He lamented that, several people were injured as a result of the dastardly attack, two persons are still missing, while some are still being held by the hoodlums, demanding for ransom before their release.
The Lawmaker decried that, the Sabon Birni to Jigawa to Sabla to Sangi forest has now become a death trap, with several communities in the area completely cut off from the rest of the local government and State.

He lamented, “these obnoxious and reprehesensible acts have become more rampant in the area, with myriad of kidnappings, armed robberies and banditry, taking place in towns, villages and Fulani settlements.
“This ugly situation has taken its formidable toll on the socio economic and social lives of the people, with its attendant ripple effects.
“Most of the farmers have toiled and produced assorted farm produce, but , unless urgent pungent measures are taken, they will not be able to even harvest them, hence, they have to abandon them in the farms.
“This will drastically impact on the food security in the areas, local government, Sokoto State and Nigeria, In general, as nearly 98 per cent of my constituents are farmers.”
Isa Harisu, however, promised to collaborate with the farmers, to form cooperative groups, with a view to accessing laon facilities from the Bank of Agriculture, Central Bank of Nigeria and other commercial banks.
He appealed to the State government to prevail on the contractor handling the 21 kms Kebbe to Ungushi road which had since been awarded by the state government, to mobilize to the site.
The Lawmaker explained that, there is nothing physically on the ground to indicate that, the work has commenced .
He further called on the State Government to construct the 17kms Kebbe to Girkau road, which is in terribly bad shape.
“It is the largest ward, with vast fertile land, but, now completely inaccessible and we only communicate to the people in the various areas only on GSM,” he also decried.
Speaking on education, the lawmaker said he intends to expand his existing scholarship scheme, to assist youths from the constituency to obtain tertiary education.
He promised to collaborate with parents and guardians in the area in the running of the scholarship scheme , to bolster community participation.
