Ahmed Satomi, representing Jere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has launched an emergency medical outreach programme in a bid to mitigate the risk of waterborne diseases in Borno State.
At the launch in Maiduguri on Thursday, Satomi said, “The recent floods have severely hit our constituency, and we must act swiftly to protect our people.”
According to him the free medical services will benefit 25,000 children across 12 wards, providing vital testing, scanning, and treatment for cholera, malaria, typhoid, malnutrition, and other flood-related health issues.

He noted that certified doctors and nurses will staff the outreach, utilizing advanced equipment and distributing drugs worth over N52 million.
Satomi explained that the programme was designed to address the urgent health needs of the affected communities.
He said, “We’re determined to support our people, young children, and lactating mothers within our capacity.”
The lawmaker’s N63 million philanthropic effort includes food distribution for 3,000 vulnerable persons displaced by the floods. Children will receive nutritional food, a locally made, for three weeks.
The Satomi Mobile Clinic will provide ongoing medical support, reaching 1,500 patients and treating malnutrition cases. Notably, the floods have affected two major hospitals in the constituency.
Satomi reiterated that the outreach was entirely self-funded. “It’s a collective effort between my team, well-wishers, and me to support our community.”
