Lawmaker empowers 3,000 in Kwara

ABOUT 3,000 persons have benefited from an empowerment programme organised by the senator representing Kwara South senatorial district of Kwara State, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, through the Rafiu Ibrahim Bilal (RIB) Foundation.

Speaking with journalists at the ceremony in Offa at the weekend, the chairman of the empowerment programme committee, Senator Bisi Oyewo, said unemployed youths in the senatorial district were selected and trained in various skill acquisition.

Senator Oyewo, who said the gesture would enhance the socio-economic development of the people, added that Senator Ibrahim had been a true representative of the people of his senatorial district since his election into the National Assembly.

Senator Oyewo  noted that the selection of the beneficiaries of the empowerment was done in a  transparent manner.

Items distributed included deep freezers, grinding machines, hair dressing machines, cars, power generators, motorbikes and tricycles.

The chairman noted that the programme would also bring new lease of life to the people of the senatorial district in view of the current economic recession in the country.

On the foundation, Senator Oyewo said there was no doubt that it would provide an avenue for unemployed youths in the senatorial district to be trained in skill acquisition, adding that the gesture would assist them to acquire the capacity building that would be transformed into fruitful use in the nearest future.
