STUDENTS of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have appealed to the Oyo and Osun state governments, owners of the institution, to take steps to end the ongoing strike.

They described the lack of resolution of the industrial action for the past five months as one capable of putting their academic careers in jeopardy.

The students have been staying at home since June when workers of the university embarked on strike over non-payment of salaries.

But some of the students who visited the Tribune House, Ibadan, on Monday, to protest the continuation of the strike, alleged lack of concern from stakeholders to end the strike.

The spokesman of the students, Mr Ahmed Oyedeji, alongside a former president of the students union of the school, Mr Areo Oyegoke, pleaded with the stakeholders, particularly the visitors of the university, Governors Abiola Ajimobi and Rauf Aregbesola and the Chancellor, Senator Bola Tinubu, to see to it that the crisis is resolved immediately in the interest of the students.

“The consequences of the strike are grave and we are already seeing some of them. We are here to call on concerned Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to come to our rescue. We especially call on the visitors, the governors of the two owner states, and the chancellor of the institution to see to the amicable resolution of this matter immediately and safeguard our future because of the consequences,” Oyedeji said.
