Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir on Sunday evening, led other prominent people from across the country to attend the Jana’iza (funeral prayers) of the late Emir of Ningi, Muhammadu Yunusa Danyaya who died earlier in the day.

The remains of the Emir were laid to rest in the Emir’s Palace in Ningi, the headquarters of Local Government Area of the state.

Aged 88 years, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammadu Danyaya died in the early hours of Sunday after a protracted illness at a hospital in Kano, barely 3 days after returning from a medical trip in Maccah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Late Yunusa Danyaya who was the longest-serving Emir in Bauchi State, ruled Ningi Emirate comprising Ningi and Warji LGAs for 46 years.

The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ningi, Dr Muhammad Umar and was attended by dignitaries from works of life including Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi.

Others included Emirs from within and outside the state, top government functionaries, politicians, and hundreds of sympathisers.

Speaking after the funeral prayers, Bala Mohammed described the late Emir as a “father who demonstrated the highest value of leadership, fostering unity, progress and development not only within Ningi Emirate and Bauchi State but the country as a whole.”

The Governor prayed Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and for the family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
