Lalong mourns late Plateau monarch, Mandung

Former Plateau Governor and minister-designate Simon Bako Lalong has described the late Da Gwom Rwey Kuru, Patrick Mandung as a “man of peace who did a lot to ensure that his domain and Plateau at large enjoyed stability”.

Lalong who was on a condolence visit to the family of the late Royal Father in Kuru, Jos South Local Government recalled that the deceased was one of those who supported him by working assiduously to address early warning systems indicating likely breakdown of law and order.

He said late Da Patrick Mandung made it a point of duty to encourage dialogue, peace-building and collaboration within his community at all times. He also promoted education, economic development and prosperity of the subjects.

The former Governor while sympathising with the family and entire Kuru community said though his demise is painful, the legacies he left behind will continue to speak for him.

While urging them to sustain his legacies and follow his footsteps, Governor Lalong extended his appreciation to the Kuru people for supporting him during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State, assuring them that he will continue to sustain the friendship and goodwill.

Responding, son of the deceased, Prince Martin Mandung, Chairman Kuru Development Association, Da Justin Dung Pam and Da Pius Jugu, Acting Da Gwom Rwey Kuru appreciated the former Governor for his love and concern for the Kuru nation.

They congratulated him over his nomination and successful screening as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu.

They also prayed that he will succeed in his assignment.
