Sen Gbenga Ashafa
Senator representing Lagos East, Gbenga Ashafa, has been cleared and set to run opposed in the All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries.
A statement made available to Tribune Online by the Director of Communications, Gbenga Ashafa Campaign Organisation, Mr Ayo Adio, confirmed that the coast is clear for the Senator to bear the flag of the ruling party in his senatorial district.
“We received with great delight, the news of the screened senatorial candidates in Lagos State, as approved by the national working committee of the APC, which saw the very distinguished Senator Gbenga Ashafa emerge unopposed in the Lagos East senatorial constituency.
“The APC has demonstrated its readiness to uphold its values and core principles that endeared it to a majority of Nigerians, by carefully screening the candidates that would be bearing their flags in the forthcoming general elections. The process was rigorous, thorough and professional, ensuring that only credible and capable candidates emerge.

“We are therefore excited that we have emerged from the process with ‘a clean bill of health ‘ in readiness for the upcoming senatorial election in Lagos East. Senator Ashafa’s commitment and loyalty to the party and moreso, his constituents, has never been in doubt, as evidenced by his stellar performance so far.
“Senator Gbenga Ashafa will be affirming his candidacy tomorrow (Wednesday) across the various wards and local governments in Lagos East amidst his teeming supporters and constituents. It is clear that the people of Lagos East have sided with a leader that puts their interest above his and is committed to doing much more.
“We urge our supporters to remain vigilant and steadfast until the major elections in February. Much work is required and be rest assured as always, that together we can do more,” he said.
