A 47-year-old Rachel Johnson has been stabbed to death while attempting to break up a fight among members of a church in the Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos state.
According to a senior police officer, the victim’s husband, Okerube Johnson, reported the stabbing at Ikotun Police Station around 3 a.m. on Saturday. Mr. Johnson explained that his wife, Rachel, had attended a crusade, and a dispute erupted among church members during the event. Rachel intervened in an effort to quell the altercation.
The police officer recounted Mr Johnson’s statement, revealing that while Rachel was separating the fighters, one of them lethally stabbed her in the neck with a sharp object. As a result, she began to bleed profusely.
Emergency services rushed her to Igando General Hospital, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to revive her, and she succumbed to her injuries. Rachel’s body was then transferred to Mainland General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, for a detailed autopsy.
The Lagos State Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, provided an update, stating that the perpetrator is currently at large. No arrests have been made yet, but law enforcement is actively pursuing the fugitive in an attempt to bring them to justice.
