Lagos tops Katsina, Edo, others in housing delivery

Lagos State has continued to maintain the lead in the number of housing projects completed in the last one year.

According to the latest report by the Association of Housing Corporation of Nigeria (AHCN), Lagos State government completed 960 housing projects in the last one year.

The next state to Lagos in housing delivery within the period is Katsina State with 185 units, followed by Edo State with 94 units, Niger- 38 units, Benue – 30 units and Oyo — 20 units.

Besides, Lagos State also maintained the lead on number of ongoing project with 5,580.

The breakdown shows 1,968 being executed by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, (LSDPC) and the ministry of Housing 3,612 within the period under review.

Bauchi State ranks second in the number of ongoing projects with 2,500. The projects is a collaboration between the state and Family Home Funds Limited.

Also, Bayelsa has 494 ongoing housing projects; Ogun has 334 projects handled by the Ogun State Housing Corporation (OGHC and Ogun Property Investment Corporation (OPIC), Benue State – 200, Adamawa – 45 units by United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and Oyo, 13 units under the Public Private Partnership initiative.

According to AHCN, Lagos State Ministry of Housing has developed over 3,596 housing units in the last eight years.

AHCN’s report showed there was no records of the activities of some of the states housing agencies in the last one year, while housing agencies in Zamfara and Gombe states remained redundant.
